Rocks hold great historical importance, as they have been used to help us explore the evolution of our environment and living creatures. Stefanie Cheong sources and collects her rocks throughout Scotland and transforms them into jewellery and art objects sharing the connections to place and time. Exploring ways to incorporate the rocks into her work she uses traditional stone cutting techniques with contemporary applications along with making use of the waste materials, grinding them into pigments and embedding the offcuts in Jesmonite. Stefanie describes herself as an ethical maker using exclusively Fairtrade and recycled metals along with environmentally considered studio practices.
