Annie Ruthven-Taggart

Images by Juliet Sheath

Annie Ruthven-Taggart of Artgems creates designs that are influenced by structures and shapes found in marine life and geology. Consequently, her work has an emphasis on three-dimensional form, exploring convex and concave sculptural structures and using patterns and textures found on pebbles, rocks and shells. Annie works in silver and 18ct gold, incorporating a range of precious and semi-precious stones to enhance the hand-pressed metal shapes and give accents of colour. Metal elements are hand-embossed using watercolour paper cut-outs to create subtle relief textures and patterns to compliment the pieces.
