Lucy Martin’s work is characterised by graphic forms in which carefully balanced sequences of colour and texture are suspended. Lucy aims to showcase gems whilst giving them a structural role in the integrity of the forms. By using them in this way, Lucy hopes to give them a purpose beyond the decorative. Lucy focuses on achieving a crisp, defined finish whilst exclusively using traditional hand-fabrication processes. Details such as hand-carved linear indents to create surface shadow, spectacle settings to maximise colour and light to the stone and sinuous riveted joints add depth to minimal forms.
