Annie Ruthven-Taggart’s designs are influenced by structures and shapes found in marine life and geological forms, in particular layered corals found on the seabed and colonies of mussel shells. Consequently, her work has an emphasis on three-dimensionality, exploring convex and concave sculptural structures and using patterns and textures found on pebbles, rocks and shells. She works in silver, gold and platinum, with a range of precious gemstones to create hand pressed forms and roller-milled textures unique to her designs.

Each successive collection over the years is created and adapted using fresh ideas but retains a lineage of design and wearability.
