Glasgow Kelvin College

The Jewellery Department at Glasgow Kelvin College has been delivering a range of industry focused design and manufacture courses for over 30 years. The department has historically focused on the development of traditional skills allied with an awareness of contemporary design for the high street.

The department now utilises a range of advanced digital manufacturing technology with students benefiting from staff expertise in CAD (Computer Aided Design), High Definition 3D Printing and subsequent investment casting in silver, gold, platinum and even palladium.

In addition, the department continues to deliver courses in the study and identification of gemstones (Gemmology) extending now into the complementary world of optical gem-setting with short courses in specialist techniques such as pave and micro-claw providing unique opportunities to develop these highly sought-after industry skills.
