On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September 2016, Lyon & Turnbull hosted Doors Open Day in Edinburgh. Doors Open Days allow the community free access to hundreds of fascinating buildings across the city. The event in Edinburgh at Lyon and Turnbull offers visitors an opportunity to discover this historic building, ahead of their fine furniture sale, and also allows visitors a sneak preview of the stunning venue that will host Elements Festival this November.

Acclaimed silversmith Angus McFadyen demonstrated the ancient skill of engraving. Angus’ work was recently exhibited as part of The Silversmith’s Art at the National Museum of Scotland and he is one of the maker’s selected for this year’s Silver Speaks.

Jeweller Linda Lewin be demonstrated granulation, an intricate technique which involves covering a surface in minuscule spherical granules. Linda is returning for her second year as an Elements exhibitor and last year her work was showcased at The Scottish Gallery.

There wasalso a small showcase featuring work from four of the Elements Festival makers – Misun Won, Jenny Deans, Angus McFadyen and Linda Lewin.
