Kathryn Hinton

Faceted Hexagon Bowls

Images Artists’ Own

Using both traditional hand skills and digital technology Kathryn Hinton creates jewellery and silverware that explores geometric surfaces and faceted forms. The use of new technology, both for design and as a method of making, has shaped the style of her work. Kathryn designs the work using computer aided design alongside traditional metalworking techniques to explore surface pattern. The faceted designs are combined with stone setting and engraved detail to compliment the geometric surfaces. She uses computer numerical control (CNC) milling to make moulds for press forming and rapid prototyping for lost wax casting to form elements of the design.
